Woman thanks officer for sending her to hospital
    2021-12-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE city’s traffic police bureau recently received a special silk banner from a woman expressing her gratitude to the officer who helped send her to a hospital after a serious crash, Shenzhen Evening News reported.

On Oct. 7, Shenzhen traffic police received a report about a woman identified as Xiaowen who had her legs crushed by a dump truck while she was driving an e-bike.

Traffic police officer Yao Zhuang was called to handle the case and he immediately arrived at the scene and coordinated with nearby motorcycle patrol teams to join the rescue.

In order for Xiaowen to receive timely treatment, medical staff decided to send her to Shenzhen University General Hospital in Nanshan District.

Learning this situation, Yao arranged a green lane for the ambulance and had three motorcycle police officers guide vehicles on the road to yield. Yao drove a police car to escort the rescue team behind.

The ambulance arrived at the hospital in just 12 minutes, buying more time for Xiaowen to undergo treatment.

“I could not move at the time and then I heard someone saying, ‘Take her to Shenzhen University General Hospital.’ If they weren’t there in time, I wouldn’t be here today,” Xiaowen said.

After surgery, Xiaowen unfortunately lost her left leg. However, she can’t stop thinking about the man who helped her go to the hospital.

Xiaowen was finally able to get in touch with Yao on Nov. 22.

Xiaowen emotionally told Yao when they met and she handed him the silk banner, “When I woke up in the ICU, the only thing I could remember is you. Though I didn’t see you clearly [that day], I remembered it was a police officer who helped send me to the hospital. So, the first thing I want to do after I became conscious was to thank you.”
