SHENZHEN reported four new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases by 5 p.m. yesterday, a municipal health official said at a press conference in Futian District yesterday.
Shenzhen had reported eight locally transmitted cases since Friday, said Lin Hancheng with the city’s health commission at the conference. As of 5 p.m. yesterday, 1,577 close contacts and 1,942 secondary contacts of the eight confirmed cases had been put under health monitoring.
All of the new infections reported yesterday were detected in routine nucleic acid tests of the key risk groups and in the citywide screening of close contacts and secondary close contacts of the infections confirmed earlier. A preliminary investigation showed that the four new cases belong to the same transmission chain of the other four infections in the city reported since Friday.
Case 5 is a 51-year-old man who works in Longgang District, while cases 6 and 7 are females aged 72 and 77, respectively. The three cases are family members who live in Hewei Village in Caopuxi Community in Qingshuihe Subdistrict in Luohu District.
Case 8 is a 27-year-old woman who works in Longgang. She lives in Bantian Subdistrict in Longgang and is a close contact of the second case of the latest local COVID resurgence. The four new confirmed cases have been sent to the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen for treatment. Their neighborhoods and workplaces are placed under lockdown.
Luohu designated control areas in Qingshuihe Subdistrict yesterday, which will remain in effect until Monday, while Longgang also tightened measures in Buji, Bantian and Jihua subdistricts, the districts’ COVID prevention and control headquarters offices announced. |
