New measures

THE government Tuesday unveiled new guidelines to ease pressures on foreign trade companies and keep the country’s exports and imports stable.

The country will further open up the economy and carry out cross-cyclical adjustments to support medium, small and micro-sized foreign trade companies, according to the guidelines on further stabilizing foreign trade released by the State Council. The guidelines detailed 15 measures including fiscal and financial support for foreign trade companies as well as incentives for new forms of businesses in foreign trade.

Foreigners’ patents

CHINA saw rapid growth of patents and trademarks granted to foreigners in 2021, an official from the country’s top intellectual property (IP) regulator said yesterday.

The number of invention patents granted to applicants from foreign countries reached 110,000, up 23 percent from the previous year, and over 194,000 trademarks were registered by foreign applicants, up 5.2 percent year on year, said Hu Wenhui, spokesperson for the National Intellectual Property Administration.

Pudong GDP growth

SHANGHAI’S Pudong New Area is striving to notch a year-on-year GDP growth of 6.5 percent this year, local authorities said Tuesday.

According to a preliminary estimate, Pudong’s GDP hit 1.45 trillion yuan (US$227.7 billion) in 2021, up about 10 percent over the previous year, said Hang Yingwei, head of the Pudong New Area.

Tesla deliveries

TESLA’S Shanghai plant delivered over 480,000 vehicles in 2021, the U.S. electric car maker said Tuesday.

Deliveries at the Shanghai Gigafactory stood at 484,130 vehicles last year, an increase of 235 percent from 2020.
