Bao’an honored for livable climate

BAO’AN District has become Shenzhen’s first district to win the title of China’s climate livable city (county) recently given by the National Climate Center, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.

The district performed excellently in 42 indexes of five categories, specifically climate livability, climate adverse conditions, climate and ecological environment, climate comfort ability and climate landscape, meeting standards set for the title, according to the report.

Located in northwest Shenzhen, Bao’an belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate, with an average temperature of 22.8 degrees Celsius and has 160 days with suitable temperature in a year.

Bao’an’s average annual humidity stands at 73.9 percent and each year, it has more than eight months of suitable weather for tourism and 233 days with suitable humidity in a year and 563 sunshine hours in summer.

Bao’an’s air quality has improved evidently in recent years. In 2021, the district’s PM2.5 concentration, a key indicator of air pollution, declined to 18.8 micrograms per cubic meter, the lowest record in the district’s monitoring history.

Three reservoirs in Bao’an – Tiegang, Shiyan and Luotian reservoirs, have reached the second-highest water quality levels for long periods of time.

Bao’an’s green coverage rate reached 48.08 percent in 2021. The district has a total of 203 parks like OH Bay, and has 452 kilometers of greenways so far.

In addition, the district has three natural ecological parks, Fenghuang, Yangtai and Luotian mountains, and rich cultural relics.

The district will make full use of its achievement to promote the harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. (Wang Jingli)
