Taiwan reports 65 new COVID-19 cases
    2022-01-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TAIWAN reported 65 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday, including 17 locally transmitted cases, a daily record high for this year, and 48 imported cases, the island’s disease monitoring agency said.

All but three of the new local infections are linked to an outbreak of COVID-19 in a steakhouse in Taoyuan City, which originated from Taoyuan International Airport, the agency added.

A COVID-19 outbreak occurred at the airport in early January. Airport cleaning personnel, a singing social club’s members, bank clerks, as well as restaurant employees and customers, had been reported as confirmed cases amid the airport cluster infection.

To date, Taiwan has reported 17,885 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, among which 14,709 were local infections.
