SMEs to cultivate

MORE than 200,000 new high-tech small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will be cultivated by the end of 2025 as China strives to foster a favorable environment for the growth of such firms, according to a notice recently issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

China will, in particular, boost the development of innovative sci-tech SMEs featuring key technologies, research personnel, high-value intellectual property rights and high research input, according to the notice.

More efforts will be made to support high-tech SMEs to generate innovation as well as introduce domestic and global talents by optimizing related policies and injecting diverse resources, the notice added.

Home prices

CHINA continued to see a generally stable housing market in December 2021, with home prices in 70 major cities showing slight month-on-month decrease, official data showed Saturday.

New home prices in four first-tier cities, that is Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, edged down 0.1 percent month on month in December, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics.

A total of 31 second-tier cities saw a month-on-month decrease of 0.3 percent in new home prices, while those in 35 third-tier cities also fell 0.3 percent last month.

New record

THE daily production of natural gas in Changqing Oilfield, China’s largest oil-and-gas field, has reached more than 150 million cubic meters, accounting for one-seventh of the country’s total daily use of natural gas during the peak of winter.

The amount can meet the daily cooking gas needs of 300 million families of three persons, the PetroChina Changqing Oilfield Company said Saturday.

Located in Northwest China’s Erdos basin, the oilfield produced over 46.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas last year, accounting for 23 percent of the country’s total.
