With power loaded, Line 14 ready for testing
    2022-01-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE facilities of all Metro Line 14 stations and the line’s operation will soon be tested after its electricity was loaded Friday, a milestone on the line’s construction.

Metro Line 14 is a fully automated line that runs through Pingshan, Longgang, Luohu and Futian, and will be the first Metro line in Pingshan District. The 50-kilometer line runs between Gangxia North Station in Futian and Shatian Station in Pingshan. It has 18 stations and will be equipped with a GoA4 transport system, the world’s highest-standard driverless train operation system, and is designed at a maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

Shenzhen Metro Group has purchased 44 trains for Line 14, 30 of which will complete tests before the line is put into service.

The driverless technologies were piloted on Line 20, a rapid transit rail line connecting Terminal 4 of Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport and Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center at the end of 2021. The technologies will be applied on lines 12, 13 and 14, which will be put into operation later this year.

Trains for Line 14 will be equipped with a checking system that can conduct monitoring, alarms, diagnosis, assessment and analysis over the line’s operation systems. The train can also conduct automated safety checks including voluntary or involuntary detection of objects, collision prevention and derailment checks.

In another development, Metro Line 5 introduced halfway final trains running from Chiwan to Changlingpi and from Huangbeiling to Changlingpi by extending service by 30 minutes after 11 p.m. every day starting from Jan. 17, the first day of the Spring Festival holiday rush.

So far, eight Metro lines have introduced halfway final train services.

Shenzhen Metro Group announced Monday that it will extend services from Jan. 26 to Jan. 29 and from Feb. 5 to Feb. 9 to meet the holiday rush demands. Buses linking Metro stations will also extend services between the 10th and 17th day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar (or Feb. 10-17). Buses along 24 routes that pass railway stations and the airport will also extend their service hours.
