PERIODIC cold weather is likely to occur during the Spring Festival holiday (from Jan. 31 to Feb. 6), with the lowest temperature expected to stand at 10 degrees Celsius, said the Municipal Meteorological Observatory.

There will be a total of four to five rounds of cold air to arrive in Shenzhen from Monday to Feb. 25.

Temperatures will drop starting Jan. 30 affected by a round of cold air.

Periodic rainy weather is predicted in Guangdong and surrounding areas during the Spring Festival holiday due to cold air, according to the observatory.

The observatory reminded residents that there might be icy roads and rainy days in northern Guangdong Province and surrounding areas ahead of the Spring Festival holiday.

Given great temperature fluctuations during the Spring Festival holiday, residents were advised to stay warm to avoid catching a cold or respiratory diseases.
