    2022-01-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

WORK on the section between Xiacun and Gongming North Metro stations was recently finished, marking the completion of one of the tunnels of Line 13’s northern extension.

Line 13’s 19.2-kilometer extension line starts from Shangwu North Station and ends at Gongming North Station. It has 11 stations and runs in Guangming District, and was budgeted at 22.9 billion yuan (US$3.61 billion).

Line 13, dubbed as western Shenzhen’s star Metro line, will be a fast transit and commuting line for passengers going between Guangming, Bao’an and Nanshan districts.

Work on the southern extension of Line 13 has started as well. It runs from Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint to Dongjiaotou area. The 3.83-kilmeter line will link Shekou area to the rest of Nanshan, Bao’an and Guangming through Line 13.

Also, the section between Waterlands Resort East and Haoxiang stations of Line 12’s extension was completed recently. Line 12’s extension was designed from Waterlands Resort East Station to Songgang. The 8-kilometer section has six stations and will be the backbone for traffic in Shajing and Songgang areas in Bao’an District.

Shenzhen will form a network of 16 lines totaling 647 kilometers long upon completion in 2025, sources from Shenzhen Metro Group said. (Han Ximin)
