SHENZHEN held a series of tourism-themed events Thursday to celebrate the 12th China Tourism Day and to boost the city’s tourism market.

A China Tourism Day event was held at Dapeng Fortress on Thursday morning. The event was jointly organized by the city’s tourism authority and the Dapeng New Area Government.

At the ceremony, five cultural tourism routes containing 18 cultural scenic spots were unveiled to attract more tourists to experience Shenzhen’s intangible cultural heritages, unique urban culture and Hakka folk customs. In addition, a total of 64,000 red packets containing digital yuan (e-CNY) in four different denominations and the fourth round of coupons for culture, sports and tourism consumption were officially handed out through online platforms.

On the same day, a one-day public benefit tour took off from OH Bay in Bao’an District. Four sightseeing buses took about 200 medical workers, volunteers, takeaway and parcel deliverymen, and taxi drivers to several tourist attractions, allowing these “ordinary heroes” who have dedicated themselves to the fight against COVID-19 to experience the city’s charms and momentarily relax from their daily busy work.

Aboard the Bay Glory Ferris Wheel and the No. 2 Greater Bay Area cruise ship, these workers enjoyed Qianhai Bay and Shenzhen Bay’s beautiful views. At Qianhai Stone Park, they learned about Qianhai’s miraculous development story, and they also spent some leisure time at the Happy Valley, Splendid China and Window of the World theme parks.

Wu Lan, a private hospital nurse, said she felt grateful to have this opportunity to experience the city’s beauty, and she will work harder and give back to the medical work in Shenzhen.

The public benefit tour was jointly initiated by Shenzhen Tourism Association, Shenzhen Tourist Attractions Association and Shenzhen Tourism Volunteer Corps. The Shenzhen Bus Group and the above-mentioned tourist attractions provided free buses and entry tickets.
