THE power-loaded test for Metro Line 6’s spur line was completed yesterday, marking a step closer to the line’s trial operation scheduled for the end of this year.

The electricity-loaded test was conducted to confirm that the power supply, contact net and railway systems are compatible and stable for the trains’ operation.

The test train left Shenligong Station at 9 a.m., arrived at Guangming Station 10 minutes later before it returned to Shenligong Station. It ran at speeds between 60 and 120 kilometers per hour, with data showing that all the systems performed normally, a release from Shenzhen Metro Group said yesterday.

The 6.13-kilometer spur line has four stations. Upon its completion, it will interchange with Line 6 at Guangming Station and connect with Dongguan’s Metro Line 1.

At the spur line’s Zhongda Station, Shenzhen’s first underground bike parking garage has been built to promote slow traffic and low-carbon commuting.

According to Shenzhen transport bureau’s plan for bicycle commuting between 2021 and 2035, the city will build 13 underground bike parking lots on the city’s Metro system.

In addition to the automatic fare collection system, the stations on the spur line will also be equipped with integrated customers service centers, smart ticket vending machines and robotics for ticketing matters.
