Heat alert

CHINA’S national observatory Saturday renewed a yellow alert for high temperatures, as heatwave hit vast regions of the country.

During daylight hours Saturday, temperatures in some cities reached as high as 40 degrees Celsius. China has a four-tier, color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue.

Beijing resort reopens

THE Universal Beijing Resort resumed operations Saturday as the latest COVID-19 resurgence subsides in the city.

The resort temporarily closed its theme park and the CityWalk on May 1 amid a COVID-19 outbreak that began in the Chinese capital April 22.
