Father receives praise for teaching son accountability
    2022-11-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A VIDEO showing a man letting his 3-year-old son compensate a car driver for accidentally scratching his vehicle with a toy gun has gone viral, garnering over 3 million views on social media platforms.

On the night of Nov. 20, when his son and another child chased each other in an alley, his son’s toy gun scratched a parked vehicle. When the boy’s father, surnamed Yang, was informed about the situation, he told his son to apologize to the vehicle owner and gave him 2,000 yuan (US$279.83) to compensate for the damage he made.

Yang recorded the episode as a teaching moment for his son and posted the video on his social media account. The video went viral, and netizens praised the father educating his child, making the son aware of his mistake and letting him know that he has to be held accountable.

After Yang’s son handed over the money to the vehicle owner, Yang took him for a walk, according to Shenzhen Evening News. He talked to his son, saying “Dad will always support you, and if you make a mistake or get treated badly outside home, please tell me honestly. I will always be at your side, helping you deal with the problem. If we make a mistake, we have to take responsibility for it.”
