SZ’s vitality galvanizes visiting HK media executives
    2023-02-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

MEMBERS of a high-level  media delegation from Hong Kong were struck by Shenzhen’s boundless vitality and said they were confident that cross-border cooperation has a brilliant future on a tour to Shenzhen on Saturday.

The tour was part of the delegation’s three-day visit, involving 18 Hong Kong mainstream media outlets, to Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Dongguan from Thursday to Saturday to experience the vigorous development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

In Shenzhen, the delegation visited automaker BYD in Pingshan District and the Hetao Shenzhen Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone in Futian District.

After checking out the latest BYD electric vehicle models, the delegation members said BYD’s strong manufacturing capability was impressive, which made them proud of being Chinese.

Standing on the 44th floor of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Collaborative Innovation Center, the visitors took an aerial view of the Hetao Shenzhen Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone bordering Hong Kong by  Shenzhen River. As an international platform featuring science and technology innovation in the GBA, the 3.02-square-kilometer zone, the Shenzhen section of the 3.89-square-kilometer Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Cooperation Zone, is home to 16 industrial parks spanning 600,000 square meters for science research.

The zone is expected to provide 150,000 high-value jobs when it is fully completed, according to Futian’s Party chief Huang Wei.

“The cooperation zone has a bright prospect in promoting Shenzhen and Hong Kong cooperation. We will introduce more about the cooperation zone to Hong Kong people,” Cai Jin, CEO of Sing Tao News Corp. Ltd., said.

“Shenzhen was so vigorous with thriving technological development,” Cai said. He urged Hong Kong to promote the commercialization and cooperation of technological achievements with Shenzhen and other Guangdong cities.

“I feel the strong pulse of Guangdong in the tour, my first to the mainland after the pandemic,” Cai said. “It is energetic in every corner of the cities I visit, a strong evidence that the GBA’s economy is set for a post-pandemic boom.”

The delegation also visited the Hong Kong and Macao Youth Association Headquarters in Tianhe District and Nansha Administrative Service Center in Guangzhou, and the Songshan Lake International Robotics Base in Dongguan.

“We are eager to visit Guangdong and see the GBA’s high-quality development,” Li Dahong, chairman of Hong Kong Ta Kung Wen Wei Media Group, who led the delegation, told Nanfang Daily.

Li hoped the visit will be a new starting point for exchanges between media organizations in Hong Kong and other GBA cities, and urged journalists to do more to bring people on both sides closer.

Yin Shichang, deputy editor-in-chief of Hong Kong Economic Journal, thought it was a good choice for Hong Kong youths to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams on the mainland.

“Apart from setting up tech startups on the mainland, many young people from Hong Kong and Macao have also started businesses in tourism, economics and trade. Their stories are very inspiring and worth telling. We should let more people know about the good entrepreneurial environment and opportunities in the GBA,” Yin said.  (Han Ximin)
