THE Show Kitchen, the first open buffet restaurant at the Grand Hyatt Shenzhen, will be offering a genuine taste of Thailand till Sept. 26.
Chef Mum, who has cooked for the Thai Royal Family, will interact with guests and provide information about Thai cuisine at the open kitchen of the 32nd-floor restaurant.
Chef Mum first entered the kitchen at the age of 7 to help her mother prepare Thai dishes. Having worked at the Grand Hyatt for 20 years, she knows the secrets of the best Thai cuisine. “A perfect Thai meal is a blend of spicy, subtle, sweet and sour flavors, and must be equally satisfying to the eye, nose and palate,” she said.
Guests can start with yam nua yang, beef salad grilled with onion and tomatoes; or som tum, green papaya salad.
For the soup don’t miss the famous tom yam goong.
Also recommended are hot dishes such as phad Thai — fried noodles with shrimp — and Thai-style steamed fish. Mild Thai desserts with coconut milk complete the meal.
Thai food fanatics can also join a 12-member -cooking class led by Chef Mum, from 2:30-5 p.m. from Sept. 11 to 18, for just 480 yuan.
Diners at the Show Kitchen will have the chance to win a five-day trip to Thailand for two, courtesy of the Grand Hyatt.
The Show Kitchen also serves quality dishes like fresh seafood, sushi, premium cold cuts, Chinese dim sum, desserts and cooked-to-order pizzas, pasta, and noodles.
