Summer getaway at Hyatt Regency Dongguan

Perched along the picturesque Songshan Lake, around 30 minutes’ drive from Shenzhen, Hyatt Regency Dongguan offers an ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.

From June 1 through the end of August, guests are invited to enjoy a great summer at the hotel with a valued summer package. Priced from 1,488 yuan net, the package includes one night’s stay at a guest room, buffet breakfast for two, 400-yuan dining credit to be used in the hotel’s restaurants, 20-percent discount on selected spa treatment, and 20-percent discount on the daily rate for the second night.

Housing a large orchard, the hotel also organizes litchi picking during the harvest season in June and July. The activity is available only for in-house guests and costs 80 yuan per person with a supplementary litchi gift basket.

Bordeaux wine dinner at The Ritz-Carlton

Food and wine lovers will have a unique chance to experience wine pairings of Chinese food with the world-famous wines of France at a Bordeaux wine dinner at The Ritz-Carlton, Shenzhen on May 28.

Sample exquisite wines from Chateaux Beychevelle, Chateaux Haut-Bailly, Chateaux du Tertre and Chateaux Giscours, all paired with six delectable courses of Chinese-inspired cuisine.

South African food festival at Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen

Warm up for the upcoming 2010 World Cup in South Africa at Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen, where a South African food promotion is being held in its sports-themed Champs Bar & Grill through July 11.

The hotel has invited South African chef Julian Lees to prepare the food, which are paired with South Africa’s Klein Zalze wine.

Recommended dishes are bobotie, roast lamb leg, ostrich steak with lime and black pepper, and apple strudel.
