Shenzhen junior English journalists talk about their colorful life and interview experience
    2010-10-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Collecting best wishes for Asian Games

    裴雄宇 育才三小五(4)班

The 2010 Asian Games is scheduled to take place in Guangzhou next month. Guangzhou is the second city in China to host this sporting event after Beijing in 1990. To collect best wishes for the Asian Games, we went to the Window of the World for an interesting and exciting interview.

The first step is always troublesome. I was a little nervous when I was confronted by two foreign friends from the United States. I got up my nerve and started introducing myself and asking them to write down their best wishes for the Asian Games. They answered my questions patiently and fluently. After that, I became more and more confident and interviewed another two foreigners from Bangladesh.

The time passed quickly. I have learned a lot and gained confidence from the interviews. I really hope the Asian Games will be a great success.

    An interview at Shenzhen University

    林潇涵 央校六年级(2)班

Today we junior English journalists had a chance to interview people at the Shenzhen University, which is a big university with many students and associations.

We interviewed the English Association which has more than 300 members. The leader of the association told us how to improve our English more easily. We must read every day and speak more, listen to English songs and watch English movies and other programs. He also suggested we should try to speak English with someone on a higher level.

I was really happy to interview the students at the university because I will study in university someday. I enjoyed my interview.

    The wonderful botanical garden

    林楚涵

Today we junior English journalists went to the Fairy Lake Botanical Garden.

First, we went to a museum in the garden. We saw some dinosaur fossils in the Fossil Forest. There is a huge dinosaur fossil which is about 5 to 6 meters high. We saw some plant fossils, too. I thought only animals could become fossils. I never imagined that plants could be changed into fossils as well.

We then went to visit the famous tree planted by our beloved late leader Deng Xiaoping. This tree was planted in 1992 and is 18 years old now. The guide told us that, in the past 18 years, the tree had grown from a seedling into a strong tree, just like Shenzhen has grown from a small village into a big city.

    Today I learned a lot.
