    Expo ends

    The Shanghai World Expo wrapped up* on Sunday after nearly 73 million people visited displays by 189 countries during the six-month-long culture and technology extravaganza* that brought snapshots* of the world to ordinary Chinese.

    The massive event drew mainly Chinese visitors, many of whom patiently braved waits of up to 10 hours at some popular national pavilions, sweltering* summer temperatures and long walks.

    

    Job fair

    Nearly 100,000 people visited an international professional job fair which helped over 16,800 people find a job at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center at the weekend.

    The Conference on the International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP), the largest yet international job fair in China which ended on Saturday, attracted the largest number of international and domestic enterprises, overseas students and visitors seen since the annual State-level event was first held in 2001.

    

    Miss Model of China

    Cao Qingqing from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region won the 22nd Miss Model of China 2010 in Shenzhen on Sunday. Zhu Tianqi from Liaoning Province came second followed by Wan Wei from Yunnan Province. Cao will represent China at the 22nd Miss Model of the World quest in Shenzhen in late November.

    

    China Cup

    The South African sailing team Sheraton, winner of last year’s China Cup, has successfully defended its title after three days of intense* competition from Saturday to Monday.

    The team was awarded the Fourth China Cup International Regatta (CCIR) Championship at a closing ceremony at the Kingkey Palace Hotel in Yantian on Monday.
