Taiwan delicacies lure Shenzhen gourmands
    2010-11-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Sun Yuchen

SHENZHENERS willing to hit the road for genuine Taiwanese delicacies no longer have to travel all the way to the island. Now they can find almost everything they want in Fuyong, Bao’an District.

From fried stinky tofu to oyster pancakes, from bubble milk tea to sugarcane juice, gourmands can find various Taiwanese snacks at the newly opened Fenghuang Taiwan Food Street, adjacent to Fenghuang Hill Forest Park.

All the stores on the street are run by Taiwanese, a guarantee of the authenticity of the food and cooking techniques, according to Ye Songfang, vice director of the Taiwan Businesses Association in Shenzhen.

The street is the first of its kind in Guangdong Province. The first phase opened Sept. 28 with more than 60 stores.

With an investment of nearly 64 million yuan (US$9.56 million), the street, 586 meters long and covering about 38,000 sqm, merges ancient Chinese architectural styles with modern touches.
