South Korean actress and commercial model Park Hye-sang was found dead in her home on Friday, South Korean media reported on Monday. She was 29. According to police, Park took her own life although the reason was not known. Her body was cremated* and her funeral was held at the Asan Medical Center on Sunday. Park appeared on the Channel CGV sitcom “Apgujeong Arirang” in 2005. She also appeared in the music videos for the songs “Snow Prince” by boy band SS501, and “Evergreen” by PK Heman. Park was born in 1981 and graduated from Suwon Women’s College in Gyeonggi Province in South Korea. Aside from being an actress, she was also a commercial model and appeared in advertisements for Kumho Life Insurance, Ford Motors, LG Household & Health, LG Telecom and CHBC Bank. South Korea is among countries with the highest suicide rate in the world and several South Korean celebrities have taken their own lives for a variety of reasons. Just last month, 25-year-old Korean singer Yu-Ju committed suicide due to depression. South Korean stars that have committed suicide include actress Choi Jin-sil in 2008 and her brother, actor Choi Jin-young this year, actor Ahn Jae-hwan in 2008, singer Park Yong-ha, and actress and singer U-Nee.(SD-Agencies) |
