Shenzhen junior English journalists write about their memorable interview experience
    2010-11-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Sports Festival at Yucai Fourth Primary School

    练奕洋 育才四小四年级(2)班

On November 8, the 6th Sports Festival and the torch relay ceremony solemnly opened at Yucai Fourth Primary School to greet the Guangzhou Asian Games.

Bathed in warm sunshine, all present stood solemnly when the national anthem was played. After the flag-raising ceremony, Principal Cui announced the opening of the Sports Festival.

After the opening ceremony, we junior English reporters interviewed Principal Cui and Chairman Bai of the English Department. Although there was an air of tension at first, I improved after conquering my fears.

Time was slipping by. I sincerely wished the Guangzhou Asian Games and the 6th Sports Festival of Yucai Fourth Primary School great success.

    An exciting interview

    of U.K. writers

On November 12, a symposium on “City, Life and Literature,” sponsored by the Cultural and Education Section of the British Consulate-General, was conducted at Shenzhen Book City. Three rising star authors from the United Kingdom, Catherine O’Flynn, Raphael Selbourne and Ross Raisin, were invited to speak to books fans about their prize-winning novels.

We junior English reporters took part in this meeting. After the writers introduced their novels came question time. The audience was very excited.

I tried my best to seize an opportunity. I got up my nerve to smile at the writers and raised my questions: “Today our topic is city, life and literature, so what’s the deep relationship among the three? Does a city really get its own character? How do you interpret the city character?”

The writers answered my questions patiently. They praised me effusively and said my questions were the best. After the meeting, a writer presented a book to me with his signature.

What a memorable night! I sincerely expect the writers to produce more and better works in the future.

    ceremony held

On October 31, junior English journalists went to the Shenzhen International Garden and Flower Expo Park for “Songs from Shenzhen” award presentation ceremony. The ceremony was organized by the Shenzhen Media Group.

At first, there were not many people but soon more and more people gathered and there were not enough seats for the audience. A lot of people stood at the back.

Many famous singers like Li Jian, Liu Xijun and Fan Linlin won awards at the ceremony. Their songs were very good. I also saw lots of fans of Liu Xijun. They were excited. I’m a fan of Liu Xijun, too. But she didn’t appear at the ceremony, because of leg problems. The ceremony was like a small concert. I enjoyed many songs. Although I didn’t see my idol Liu Xijun, I still enjoyed the night.
