An exciting interview of U.K. writers
    2010-11-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

李昊东 深圳实验学校初中部 初一(7)班

On November 12, a symposium on “City, Life and Literature,” sponsored by the Cultural and Education Section of the British Consulate-General, was conducted at Shenzhen Book City. Three rising star authors from the United Kingdom, Catherine O’Flynn, Raphael Selbourne and Ross Raisin, were invited to speak to books fans about their prize-winning novels.

We junior English reporters took part in this meeting. After the writers introduced their novels came question time. The audience was very excited.

I tried my best to seize an opportunity. I got up my nerve to smile at the writers and raised my questions: “Today our topic is city, life and literature, so what’s the deep relationship among the three? Does a city really get its own character? How do you interpret the city character?”

The writers answered my questions patiently. They praised me effusively and said my questions were the best. After the meeting, a writer presented a book to me with his signature.

What a memorable night! I sincerely expect the writers to produce more and better works in the future.
