“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” claimed the No. 1 spot at overseas (outside North America) box offices for the third straight weekend with US$54.4 million to stay ahead of animated movie “Tangled.” “Deathly Hallows” dropped about 52 percent from the previous weekend, and the total ticket sales overseas for the seventh title in the “Potter” franchise now stand at US$469.1 million. Disney Animation’s “Tangled,” the No. 1 title in the United States and Canada this weekend, saw a weekend gross of US$26 million from theaters in about 35 percent of the international market. So far, the 3D retelling of the classic Rapunzel tale has grossed US$45.8 million over two weekends at foreign box offices. Landing at No. 3 was DreamWorks Animation’s “Megamind,” which opened in 17 territories covering much of Europe and Latin America, and generated US$16 million overall. Fourth was “Due Date,” taking in US$6.4 million in 54 markets and pushing its overseas gross to US$82.6 million.
