Sense of humor
    2011-01-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Carrie Wang

Logic thought is the best way to solve a problem, and humor is the best way to get over it. Getting upset or overly emotional can make things worse and using humor can lighten the mood. Many politicians have a sense of humor to deal with a dilemma or difficult situations.

Using humor is not only a crafty way for politicians, but a brilliant way for public figures to rescue themselves from the press.

In 2006, Bill Gates stepped down from his role as chief executive of Microsoft to concentrate on philanthropic work. During his time in charge, a rivalry formed between him and the charismatic chief executive of Apple, Steve Jobs. Both companies have run aggressive advertising campaigns. In an interview with Vogue magazine, Gates’ wife, Melinda, admitted that her husband had banned his family from using any products manufactured by Apple. “There are very few things that are on the banned list, but iPhones and iPods are two things we don’t get for our children.”

In an interview, Jobs said: “My house never has a window.” What if the Gates’ family never eats an apple?

Later at a technology conference, the two men compliment each other on their business achievements. People with a sense of humor can always turn a difficult situation into an easy one.
