‘The Green Hornet’ arrives in Beijing
    2011-01-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The superhero movie “The Green Hornet” had its Beijing premiere on Monday, after a top-grossing opening weekend in North America.

Chinese superstar singer-actor Jay Chou, who makes his Hollywood debut in the film playing the Green Hornet’s sidekick Kato, attended the premiere along with director Michel Gondry and actor Seth Rogen, who plays the Green Hornet.

Chou’s involvement in the film and his English-language abilities were the focus of local media. Gondry said he had not realized Chou’s popularity in Asia during casting, but thought he was cool and his acting was natural. Rogen also praised his co-star for his efforts to learn English.

“The Green Hornet” opened last week with earnings of US$34 million, topping the week’s box office and beating some of the Oscar hopefuls, including “Black Swan” and “The King’s Speech.”

The film is slated to open on the Chinese mainland on February 6.(SD-Agencies)
