U.S. TV drama ‘Glee’Tancy Rooffener

Do you know the word “glee?” It means lively, joy, merriment, and it’s also the name of my favorite TV program.

I had heard of the program and seen pictures of it in magazines. It really didn’t appeal to me at first, until one day, I was out and finally bought some DVDs just to see why so many teenagers in the United States loved it so much.

I went home and watched some episodes and, just like that, I couldn’t stop watching it. It touched something inside me.

The program is set in a high school, like a lot of programs. It focuses on seniors from all different “cliques” joining a singing and performing club, better known as the Glee Club.

In the eyes of other students, the Glee Club is for “invisible” people so they nickname the people who join the Glee Club “Gleeks,” but those students are missing out. There is teen drama in the show but there is so much more than that.

In Glee Club everyone practices hard and has fun, their goal is to go to the regionals designed for Glee Clubs all over the state. During their long journey to the regionals they learn to be themselves, and express their feelings through singing.

Glee Club people respect you for who you are, they help each other overcome their fears, and learn to never stop believing. But most of all, the program teaches us that no matter who we are we should always have faith in ourselves and be confident being ourselves, even when other people think differently, because we are never alone and it’s all right to be different.

When we have a dream we should support one another, and work hard for it, and never let anyone tell you that you can’t have your dream. Oh, and I didn’t mention, have fun on the way! Because in the end, winning isn’t the point, it’s the things we’ve learned, and the true friends we’ve made that really count.

Watch “Glee,” you will learn so much, and see life from a happier perspective.
