Work started on meat and veggie tracing system
    2011-02-01  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

QINGDAO plans to build a meat and vegetable tracing system this year.

One of 10 cities to pilot the system, authorities will use information technology to produce certificates and receipts during the meat and vegetable wholesale business transactions. This would make it easier to trace the source of the produce if there was a problem. A retracing system would be established containing information about wholesale markets, slaughterhouses, farm produce markets, supermarkets and meat stores. The system is expected to be operating in all wholesale markets and 70 percent of retail markets in the city this year.
