MORE than 5,000 staff at Qingdao Harbor continued working during the Spring Festival. The total throughput of the harbor between Feb. 2 and 8 was 7.89 million tons, while container throughput during the period was 228,000 units.

    According to the harbor, 558 ships had berthed during the holidays, including 160 large ships with a length of more than 200 meters. The number represented an increase of 7.5 percent over the same period last year.

    The old harbor area had throughput of 923,000 tons and loading of 35,000 tons of ore.
