River pollution targeted
    2011-02-15  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE city will implement measures to protect the 22 seriously polluted main rivers.

If the water quality was found below standard, district environmental protection departments would start investigations in one hour and find the pollution source in less than 24 hours. Meanwhile, measures would be taken to prevent further pollution.

Monitoring of rivers would also be tightened.

The city has made great progress in protecting the 22 rivers since last year and the water quality has improved. Fish and plant life have returned to some rivers, such as the Licun, Moshui and the Cuiyang, after disappearing for years.
