RESIDENTIAL communities in Qingdao have begun trials for the integration of three networks. According to a city plan, the Broadcasting and Television Group and China Unicom Qingdao Branch will choose seven residential communities to start trials for businesses such as HD interactive television, high speed Internet access, IPTV and other value-added services. More communities would start integrating the three networks in the future. Experts said it could make the systems compatible and allow users to make telephone calls, surf the Internet and watch television through only one cable or wireless portal. (Wang Yuanyuan, Lin Gang) |
