Chinese festivities
    2011-02-15  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

DURING the Spring Festival, people in Qingdao were treated to more than 700 traditional festival activities, including lantern riddles, dance and singing performances, as well as traditional operas.

There were temple fairs at Tianhou Temple, which featured traditional shadow plays and exhibitions of paper-cutting works, stone carvings and clay sculptures.

There were also a series of folk cultural performances. In the Qingdao library, museum and art center, there were a wide selection of lectures and exhibitions to show the historical development of China and Qingdao.

District cultural offices also organized a wide variety of activities for residents to celebrate the Spring Festival, including exhibitions of photos and calligraphy, and taijiquan performances.
