 QINGDAO received 11.1 million tourists during the Spring Festival holiday from Feb. 2 to 8, up 12 percent compared with the same period last year. Income from tourism totaled 1.3 billion yuan (US$197.2 million), an increase of 16 percent over last Spring Festival, according to the Qingdao Municipal Government. During the holidays, the Laoshan Mountain scenic spot alone had 15,000 tourists, tripling the number of last Spring Festival. Most were families. Zhushan Mountain scenic spot had more than 2,000 travelers a day, up 50 percent over the same time last year. Qingdao Forest Wild Life World also had more than 10,000 people, up 30 percent. Nearly 10,000 people spent their holiday in the outskirts of Qingdao each day. Qingdao Polar Ocean World had 42,000 tourists. Cultural attractions were also popular with tourists. The number of tourists visiting Tsingtao Beer Museum had grown by more than 10 percent over last Spring Festival.
