Natalie Portman has won the prize for best actress at the BAFTAS, the British equivalent of the Oscars, on Sunday. The American actress won the prize for her role as ballet dancer Nina in “Black Swan.” She is hotly tipped to win big at the Oscars later this year. Portman is to take a break from movies because she is pregnant. The 29-year-old, who won best actress at the Golden Globes for her role in “Black Swan,” has pulled out of the film adaptation of the novel “Cloud Atlas.” “Natalie has made eight films in three years and will take a well-earned rest after her baby is born in the summer,” says a source. Portman stunned Hollywood last month when she announced that she was engaged to “Black Swan” choreographer Benjamin Millepied and was carrying his baby. “The King’s Speech” picked up seven prizes, including awards for best film, best actor and best supporting actor and actress. Colin Firth picked up his second BAFTA best actor award in two years after winning the prize for “A Single Man” last year. He is nominated for best actor at the February 27 Oscars. David Fincher won the best director award for “The Social Network.” (SD-Agencies) |
