GDP exceeds 566 billion

    QINGDAO registered more than 566.6 billion yuan in gross domestic product last year, a year-on-year increase of almost 13 percent, according to the city government.

    The city had stable and continuous growth in agricultural production last year, achieving grain output of more than 3.51 million tons.

    There was also sharp growth in industrial production last year, with a sharp increase in company profits.

    Equipment manufacturers realized output value of more than 387.63 billion yuan, year-on-year growth of 31.4 percent. Gross retail sales of consumer goods exceeded 190.27 billion yuan last year, up 18.7 percent over 2009.

    In addition, the city reported US$56.15 billion in imports and exports last year, a year-on-year increase of 32 percent. Exports rose by 31 percent to US$33.35 billion and imports jumped by 33.6 percent to US$22.8 billion.

    Annual disposable income of city residents was 24,998 yuan last year, up 11.8 percent over 2009. Per capita consumption expenditure averaged 17,531 yuan last year, rising 9 percent over 2009. The average annual income for farmers rose by 14 percent to 10,550 yuan last year. Rural per capita living expenditure averaged 6,662 yuan last year, a year-on-year growth of 14.2 percent.

    Meanwhile, city revenue was 45.26 billion, up 20 percent over 2009. The city government also increased spending on improving social security, employment, health care and education.

    By the end of last year, deposit balance in the city’s financial institutions totaled 789.55 billion yuan, 139.11 billion yuan more than early 2010. (Li Hao, Lin Gang)
