THE quality of city food was significantly enhanced last year compared with previous years. Most of the products were qualified, according to the city’s quality supervision department. The authorities inspected 12 kinds of products manufactured by 214 companies, including alcohol, fried food, candy, chocolate, flour, chicken essence, vinegar and soy source. Of these, the percentages of passes for Chinese white wine were 95.5 percent, yellow wine 93.8 and flour 98.4 percent, while the rest were all qualified. The disqualified products were mainly found to contain excessive ethyl acetate and water. Companies which produced the disqualified products were punished. (Wang Yuanyuan, Liu Fangbin) |
