QINGDAO would speed up its development as an international city in the next five years, according to plans for development for 2011-2015, released Feb. 22. According to the plan, the city would strive for an average GDP growth of around 12 percent in each of the next five years on the basis of a sound industrial structure, rising profits, low-energy consumption and environmental improvement. The annual increase in local revenue was expected to average 15 percent in the next five years. Plans also detailed growth targets for the service industry, scientific research investment, energy consumption reduction and employment in the next five years. (Martin Li, Yu Feng) |
