RESIDENTS in Qingdao are treated to a number of cultural activities these days.

Qingdao Opera House opened October last year, providing residents with a new venue for cultural performances.

By the end of last year, there were 46 museums in Qingdao, including the Luotuoxiangzi Museum and the Qingdao Postal and Telecommunications Museum.

The Qingdao Library established a number of branches last year, allowing residents to return borrowed books to any branch.

The city organized more than 700 performances last year and was awarded a list of prizes at provincial competitions. There was also a community cultural festival, a reading month and village cultural festival activities.

There is also an increasing number of cinemas in the city, including an Imax cinema.
