City wins 87 technology awards

    QINGDAO won a total of 87 awards for its technological achievements at a ceremony held by Shandong Province on Feb. 28.

    It included 80 technology progress awards, six natural science awards and one technology invention award. Among these, several technology achievements by organizations, such as Haier Group, Ocean University of China, Qingdao Technological University and Shandong Ophthalmonogy Research Institute, won first prizes at the ceremony.

    Compared with 2009, the number of organizations winning the first prizes was doubled and the number of the second prizes increased by 50 percent in 2010. Among these, 46 were projects developed by the city’s colleges and universities, while 22 were from the city’s companies.
