 THE Center for Sino-German Cooperation in Marine Sciences, jointly organized by the Ministry of Education of China and the education department in Germany, opened at the Ocean University of China in Qingdao recently. The center was jointly established by five scientific research organizations, including the Ocean University of China and the University of Bremen, Kiel University and the Leibniz Institute for Marine Science in Germany. They will mainly promote the scientific research and cooperation between the two countries’ academic research organizations in marine science. Wu Dexing, president of the Ocean University of China, said the establishment of the center marked scientific cooperation between China and Germany had entered a new era as it would promote Chinese marine research on an international platform and increase cooperation between scientists in the two countries. The two countries have started a professional training project in marine sciences since 2004, which was also jointly established by the five organizations. (Wang Yuanyuan, Yu Feng) |
