On February 27, one team of the junior English reporters went to the Lianhua Hill Park and the Civic Center to carry out the “Check & Correct” activity for the first time. At first the teachers let us know the rules about public signs in English. Then we started to look for mistakes. At the Civic Center, a reporter found a mistake on the road sign saying “pengchengsanlu” and took pictures. We thought the correct one should be “Pengcheng 3rd Road.” Reporters found a similar mistake on another road sign for Pengcheng 4th Road. Then we went to the Lianhua Hill Park, and found some mistakes there, too. With around 160 days to go for the Universiade, there should not be any English mistakes. We are proud to attend such an activity. Hope “Check & Correct” could help improve the English translation of Shenzhen’s public signs. |
