SZU to enroll students through self-organized examination
    2011-03-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Wang Yuanyuan

Shenzhen University will start to enroll* students through self-organized examinations in five years, according to a plan the university released on Sunday.

Students whose scores are higher than the entrance score can enter the university without taking the National College Entrance Examinations (NCEE) or get additional scores for its NCEE result.

There are only three universities in Guangdong Province which can enroll students with their self-organized examinations, including Zhongshan University, South China University of Technology and the South University of Science and Technology of China.

According to Shenzhen University’s plan for the next five years which was released on Sunday, there will be more than 35,000 students in 2015 and the number will reach 40,000 in 2020. More teachers and professors will also be recruited for the university and 70 percent of them will have doctoral degrees.

Meanwhile, the university will also cooperate with the Chinese University of Hong Kong to found its Shenzhen Branch and build Confucius Institute in foreign countries. It will also help the University of Hong Kong to establish the Binhai Hospital in Nanshan District.

New student dormitories covering more than 100,000 square meters will be put into use soon, which can provide enough accommodations* to students in the next few years. Construction on several classroom buildings will also start soon this year, the plan said.

The medical school of the university will move to the Xili campus in five years.
