QINGDAO has made a great achievement in improving the well-being of its 420,000 disabled persons.

    The city has invested 230 million yuan to build 42 care centers for the disabled, benefiting 5,550 disabled people since 2008, when the city started a campaign to become a national model in improving the well-being of the disabled.

    In addition, the city government has involved departments at all levels to provide help to the disabled persons in rehabilitation, employment, law consultation, and legal aid. The city also built apartments for 1,600 households, offered job vacancies to 3,079 disabled. Thanks to more than 500 health centers for disabled, 23,203 disabled recovered.(Li Hao, Li Lili)
