THE Ministry of Railways and the Shandong Provincial Government have approved the construction of a railway to link the Dongjiakou Harbor in Qingdao’s Jiaonan City.

    With an investment of 1.25 billion yuan from the ministry and the provincial government, the 15-kilometer railway will start from Dongjiakou Station and end at Dongjiakou port area, which will take a year and a half to be built.

    An important transport infrastructure, the railway is expected to improve the transport efficiency in the Dongjiaokou port area and accelerate its development.

    Dongjiaokou was listed as a key development area in Shandong Province’s planning to develop ocean economy, which was approved by the State of Council at the beginning of this year.(Li Hao, Li Xiaohan)
