Hong Kong pop star, Andy Hui, and singer-actress, Sammi Cheng, went public with their rekindled* love affair recently and hoped the public and media would give them some privacy*. Hui admitted to getting back together with his old-flame in an interview with Hong Kong Commercial Radio’s Cha Xiaoxin on March 7 and reconfirmed the news last week at a press conference for his upcoming concert to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the start of his singing career. Echoing* Hui’s announcement, Cheng issued a statement, expressing her wish for enough time and space for them to work on their relationship. Blissfully* immersed* in love, Cheng talked about the pressures she has felt from scrutiny* of their relationship in the media, especially when some accused them of using their love affair as a mere tool to promote their careers. Some rumors have surfaced that the announcement was a means of promoting Hui’s coming concert. Hui ignored the remark, saying that he didn’t want to respond to it. Hui also said he didn’t plan to invite Cheng to be his guest performer for the concert. Earlier in March, Hui and Cheng were spotted having their afternoon tea together at Tai Ping Koon restaurant in Hong Kong by paparazzi, which sparked widespread speculation* of their secret reuniting. There have been constant tabloid* reports of the couple getting back together since their publicized split in 2004. Cheng said they’ve only met a couple of times in the past few years and will need time to get used to each other again. As for when they intend to get married and have a baby, the singer would let it be and hope for the best. Hui’s “On and On” concert will be held in May. (SD-Agencies) |
