Let’s pray for Japan
    2011-03-16  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

On March 11, Japan was struck by the most devastating earthquake and tsunami in its history.

So far, there are countless injured and dead, a great deal of completely destroyed houses, flaming refineries, dangerous nuclear leakage and millions of terrified but orderly Japanese people, causing the whole world to worry about Japan.

But after surfing the Internet, I was saddened to read some mindless, hate-filled comments by our compatriots. I know many Chinese still resent Japan’s failure to apologize for its aggression during the 1930s and 40s. That’s probably why such mindless comments appeared. But I think the earthquake and tsunami endangering Japan is another story, and one that should cause us to put our differences aside.

In the face of natural disasters, all humans of all races are equally weak. In other words, human beings must stand together hand in hand across the planet, only then can we deal with these calamities effectively and compassionately. Moreover, don’t forget we have many compatriots in Japan.

Surely, we must not forget the history, but it doesn’t mean we should lose sympathy for the innocent people who are suffering. When catastrophe rages, humankind is absolutely fragile. So, in the name of human life, let’s pray for Japan!
