THE eight operation lines of the second phase of the Qingdao logistics distribution center have finished construction and started operation recently. Total investment at the center is 300 million yuan. According to the city’s commission of transportation, the added value of the city’s logistics industry was 51.293 billion yuan in 2010, increasing by 12.3 percent year on year. “As a regional center, Qingdao has very good foundations and facilities to develop logistics industry. It should grab the opportunity of urban upgrading and economic structuring to speed up the development of the industry,” an official from the commission said. At present, the city will keep promoting its industrial upgrading to become the peninsula logistics center of Shandong Province. As an important part of the city’s logistics industry, the distribution center is the city’s biggest logistics center. Located on Zhengyang Road West, Chengyang District, the 26-hectare center is a large distribution and trading center featuring logistics consultation, storage, processing and packaging, transportation, distribution and information networks. It is about 28 kilometers away from the Qianwan Harbor, 20 kilometers away from Qingdao Harbor, 2 kilometers away from the Chengyang Railway Station and 5 kilometers away from the airport. It is also in the center of a transport network. Meanwhile, an information exchange center will also be set up in the center, becoming a logistics supply chain connecting other logistic industrial parks in the country. (Wang Yuanyuan, Li Xiaohan) |
