A CYCLING track about 13 kilometers long will be built in Jiaonan, which will be the city’s first and longest. The project starts at Lingshanwei near the Qingdao Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone and ends at Shuicheng in downtown Jiaonan. Preparation for the construction has already started. Officials in charge of the project said this track will start at the same time with the afforestation project of the Binhai Boulevard in the area. A new greenbelt on Binhai Boulevard covering more than 1 million square meters with more variety of trees and plants will be built soon. Total investment of the track and afforestation project is 80 million yuan (US$12.2m). Cyclists can enjoy a view of expansive greenery whilst riding. Facilities such as parking lots and toilets will be built along the track. The afforestation project will start in April and finish at the end of June. (Wang Yuanyaun, Han Guangliang) |
