Music lecture given in Qingdao
    2011-03-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

ALECTURE has been given by the famous conductor Zhang Lu of the Qingdao Symphony Philharmonic, on the subject of music, accompanied by a performance.

“The Weekend Art Concert” is a nonprofit event jointly organized by Qingdao Grand Theater, Qingdao Symphony Philharmonic and Qingdao Association of Musicians. Lian Xinguo, president of the philharmonic, is the initiator of the event. He said there would be 30 performances this year, letting residents enrich themselves and enjoy classic works. Tickets for the concert are 10 yuan each.

The performance at the first concert was “Carnival of the Animals” by Saint-Saens. The accompanying lecture was given by Ju Ling, explaining the work and its cultural significance to audiences.

Zhang Lu thought similar kinds of concerts should be held more often in the city. “I grew up in Russia and could see concerts every week. Listening to classical music was like eating and doing homework to me. Children should learn more about music, paintings and dancing as it will turn them into more creative individuals,” he said.
