    Global Geopark

Danxiashan Global Geopark, which is also called China Red Stone Park because of the mountain’s brilliant red color, is in Shaoguan City in Guangdong Province. It covers an area of 319 square kilometers and was added to the World Natural Heritage list this year.

Among the more than 1,200 places in the world where Danxia landform is found, Danxiashan Global Geopark is the largest area with the most typical characteristics, richest landform and the most scenic spots.

The highest peak, Danxia Mountain, is 409 meters. It is not one of the highest mountains in China but it combines the features of Huangshan Mountain, Huashan Mountain and Guilin. There are stones that resemble the male and female sex organs.

The mountain is not only scenic, it is also rich in botanical resources. Experts said there were 28 trees more than 100 years old and 14 more than 300 years old.

There are more than 80 cave temples in Danxiashan Global Geopark including the Biechuan Buddhist temple, where scholars and writers have recorded many legends, stories and poems.
