QINGDAO will promote the voluntary use of environmentally friendly production among 200 enterprises in the next five years.

    In addition, a total of 500 enterprises will be forced to conduct such production methods.

    The city will support more than 200 pilot projects with a total investment of 5 billion yuan.

    Qingdao had seen 440 enterprises adopt eco-friendly production by the end of last year since it issued two regulations concerning clean production.

    The city last year evaluated 72 enterprises which designed and employed over 1,700 eco-friendly production programs totaling an investment of 360 million yuan, covering chemical, electronic, rubber, and mechanical enterprises. (Li Hao, Lin Gang)
